i ordered a large for my 11 year old son who had to dress up for a school project. he's a big kid, but not husky and he is average height among his peers. the straps on the costume are way too short with no extra material, so i had to sew on 3-4 inch segments on each strap so he could fit into them (and not look like Urkel). the hat is okay, not really german looking but close enough. nice that the long socks game with the costume. this was a perfect costume for our needs.
