My 10 year old Grandson had to give a speech on someone who died before he was born. Most kids in the class were taking historical figures (probably the point of the assignment) - I suggested he do his on his Great-Grandfather. My Father was stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1942. Our home town did a front page story on him when I was a young teen, complete with his navy picture. I gave Tyler a copy of the article, pulled up pictures of the USS Raleigh from the Internet, and had him watch the attack scenes from the movie Pearl Harbor. He was amazed to be able to take a history lesson and connect it to someone in his family - even if he never met the man. Part of the assignment was optional - to dress as the character. When I found this on Amazon, I had to get it for him. The material was a little thin so he wore his baseball sliding shorts under the pants and a t-shirt under the top, but the over all look was good. The only down side is the hat - it wasn't quite round or deep enough to sit on his head properly and I think he ended up leaving the hat in his locker.
